Blight Of Insanity

There's a rumor spreading far and wide,
an ill nation taken on a toxic ride.
Those without a mind preach stern and loud,
violent toward those who stand out from the crowd.
Hive minds and a pack mentality
lead the blind to perpetual fatality.
Lies and hate burned in their hearts,
spew from their lips like poison-soaked darts.
They make claims about the "good" of their cause,
then stand there to wait for praise and applause.
When confronted with truth they don't want to hear,
they swell up and well up, explode into tears.
Their need for acceptance and position of power
force them to take pride in the sickness of this hour.
They are the blight on humanity,
the embodiment of raw insanity.
They're growing in number, faster than can be counted.
They're infection is spreading... can it be surmounted?

***I have something I want to say.***

Lately, I've been seeing quite a bit of media coverage of a lot of very illogical, uniformed, mindless, brainwashed, rude, selfish, vain, and sometimes well-meaning individuals and groups. I've sit back and said nothing to the public about these people and the supposed causes they fight for. But, I'm growing ever sicker of hearing their poisonous, toxic lies spouted off and being passed for fact. These people spread ideas and concepts that are hurtful, offensive, and right down hypocritical, even to themselves.
Sure, I whole-heartedly agree that no one should be forced to live in a body or an environment where they feel oppressed, berated, or hated. And no one should ever need to suffer fear of being who they truly are because of any reason. I believe in the concept of egalitarianism, in that ALL PEOPLE, regardless of any of their individual traits, beliefs, or preferences, physically, mentally, or otherwise, ARE and should be treated EQUAL. We're all EQUALLY HUMAN. Do you know what that means? It means we are all vial, and we are all kind, we are all perfect and beautiful in who we are, and we are all imperfect and subject to making mistakes. No race is better than any other race. No religion is any better than another one or lack thereof. No differences make any of us better than any other one us.
Humanity needs each and every individual to come together and get along, to show love, empathy, and kindness to everyone so humanity can continue to grow and prosper. Humanity needs us to cooperate and accept our differences so we can continue to exist. And just as importantly, we need to show love and respect, as well as embrace who and what we are as individuals so we can become successful in our own lives. These groups known as SJW, 3rd Wave Feminists, Fat-Acceptance, Black Lives Matter, and so on are the very things this poem is about. They are poison in our bloodstreams, wrinkles in the fabric of our nation (and possibly the world), and stains in society. Lots of them are good people being led astray to believe lies for truth, thinking they are doing good things. But the majority of them seem vicious. Just watch. Just listen. JUST THINK FOR YOURSELF. Use your logic and intelligence. You will see what I'm talking about.
Now, I'm from the United States. I was born here, and I've lived here my entire life. Therefore, the statements I make are directed toward what I see taking place in my own nation. I cannot and will not speak about the things I do not have knowledge of... that would make me a fool. I know there are places in the world where feminism, social justice might possibly be needed, where women are actually oppressed, and racial prejudice and/or oppression is actually existent. But here, these things come in small bundles of individuals who need mental help or prison time.
But the truth is, that no matter how hard we fight it, and now matter how diminished the hate becomes, there will always exist a fear and hatred of difference and of things that are not understood. That's human nature, and there is not a single person who has not felt, at least to some degree, that fear or hatred. We don't like what threatens what we have pride in or what threatens our position of power or even what threatens our consistent stream of understanding of how the world works. What we don't like, we eventually grow to hate to more we have to deal with it. This doesn't mean that we stop trying, or even that we should just to the complete polar opposite. What we should do is work to improve our personal selves so that we know for sure that someone somewhere is doing the right thing. We need to make sure we line up with what we believe and what we feel and what we want for ourselves and the world as a whole. Otherwise, we're hypocritical imbeciles just doddering along, waiting on a pat on the back that we don't deserve and didn't earn.
I know it's old and tired, but be the change you want to see. It only takes one person to set a trend. Set the trend of kindness. Others will follow. People respect those who are kind. Even still. It's "cool" to be a bully right now, but it's just a phase, just a trend. Eventually it will die out, like bell bottom jeans died out after the 70's.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings here. I hope you all like this poem. :) If you comment, please be respectful. I will disallow comments if this gets out of hand.
